Bucktown Classic
A foreclosed home in the heart of Bucktown gets a modern classic design update
The Challenge
After our client purchased this foreclosed property, boy did we have our work cut out for us! The kitchen and bathrooms were mostly stripped of cabinetry and fixtures, and the main floor layout needed some serious help. To start with, the kitchen had two entrances from the dining room, leaving very little space for kitchen cabinets. In addition, the small family room left no room for a casual meals area. Did we mention the marble tiled floor? Upstairs, crema marfil marble covered every surface in the master bathroom.
The Solution
We brought this house back from the late 90’s with a stylish and chic renovation that we are betting will stand the test of time! The kitchen and bathrooms were all gutted and redesigned in a modern classic design style and the Brazilian Cherry floors were stained to minimize the red undertones. The main floor gained a new layout, complete with a new coat closet, bar area, and a much larger and functional kitchen. The clawfoot tub in the master bathroom takes pride of place amidst the grey marble walls and floors. In addition, the basement gained a mudroom area by the back door, ready to handle all that comes with a busy household!
