Urban Source Opens Chicagos First
Interactive Retail Interior Design Studio
Interior Design -- 5/3/2005
Chicago is no stranger to good design, from its Mies apartment complexes to its high-end design stores and galleries. But now the Windy City is taking design to another level, with one for the do-it-yourself-ers: Design group Urban Source (http://www.urbansourcechicago.com/), run by Chicago designers Jennifer Rossignuolo and Rose Tejeda-Nevarre, have opened Chicagos first walk-in interactive retail interior design studio, focusing on the home.
Its not just any design studio, though. Urban Source will give customers a chance to view commercial-grade interior-design materials, which is the benefit of having the store run by designers who have access to this type of thing. So now, customers can forget about the cookie-cutter home-superstore experience, and focus on something fresh and unique where theyll get to choose everything from shelving systems and home accessories, to metal mesh draperies and room dividers. Urban Source's specialization is in textiles and wall coverings, and in-store design consultants will help customers figure out whats what, for free.
Those who want to skip the free consultations and go straight to the check-writing phase, will be able to enlist the design services of Rossignuolo and Tejeda-Nevarre, who can spend time with a customer in an off-site design consultation, choosing designs to meet those customers needs. Theyre also available to head up the hands-on design services in the home, once the materials are picked making this independently-owned company a good choice not only for residential customers, but also for independent designers and architects.
Urban Source, 1431 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622; phone 312.455.0505, open Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 10am-6pm; on Fridays from 11am-7pm; Saturdays from 10am-5pm, and Sundays from10am-2pm.
