Preparing for Your Meeting

Shopping for custom window treatments for your home? Here are some prep tips to help you.

There are a number of things you should consider prior to your first custom drapery meeting. We’ll help you along the process, but you should bring a few things to your meeting to help start the process.

For example, we’ll need your window measurements and wall measurements, pictures of the window and the room, and any swatches/pictures of other design elements in your room that will need to coordinate with your drapery fabric. We also encourage you to bring in inspiration images of things that you like!

During the meeting, we’ll want to accomplish the following tasks:


Define Purpose

Decorative, functional (day time or night time privacy, light blocking, insulation, etc…).


Determine Budget

We carry many different products which vary greatly in price. if you tell us what you’re comfortable spending. we’ll guide you towards a solution that will fit your budget. 


Design Aesthetic of all Involved

We strongly recommend coming in with your partner for a window treatment consultation, so that we can consider everyone’s design aesthetic.


Time Frame

Roller Shades can take 2 to 3 weeks to order, but custom drapery can take 8 to 10 weeks during busy periods. So if you have a deadline you’re working towards, please do not delay in coming to us!

What to Bring

  • Pictures of your window(s), including some overall room shots
  • Floor plan (if you have one)
  • Measurements of your windows:
    • Floor to ceiling
    • Width and height of your windows along with trim dimensions
    • Wall space around the windows (sides, below and above)
  • Materials/finishes you are working with in the room
